Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Henry Leonardos, 1927-03-25
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Henry Leonardos in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Pendleton has received Leonardos’ letter of February 22nd. Pendleton informs Leonardos that the General Church plans to call a General Assembly in London in the summer of 1928. Pendleton hopes this occasion will demonstrate that the General Church is “not a natural body, but that it is a spiritual organization, competent to receive members from any country and of any race.” Both Rev. R. J. Tilson and Rev. Elmo Acton will be ordained into higher degrees of the priesthood at the Assembly. Pendleton would also like to ordain Leonardos. If Leonardos and Mr. Lima are able to attend, the Church will contribute $750 each for their traveling expenses. Pendleton hopes they will stop by Bryn Athyn on their way to London or on their return to Rio. Names mentioned: Rev. Robert J. Tilson, Rev. Elmo Acton, Mr. (Joao de Mendonca) Lima
