Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Eldred Edward Iungerich in St. Cloud, Seine et Oise, France. Pendleton reports that the Spring meetings in Bryn Athyn have successfully concluded with the ordination of Dr. (Alfred) Acton into the episcopal degree of the priesthood. Pendleton relays the latest in a series of letters he has exchanged with Mr. Bjorck. Bjorck argues that his letter to Bishop DeCharms does not constitute an attack upon the Church as he merely pointed out things in the Church which are not of the Lord, and therefore ought not to be part of His Church. Bjorck asks that he not be forced to recall his letter and that he be allowed to remain in the Church on the condition that he promises to say nothing of the state of the Church for the remainder of his life on Earth. In his reply to Bjorck’s letter, Pendleton writes that it is his duty as Bishop to prevent disturbances within the Church, and he believes the disturbance in the Church caused by Bjorck’s letter will only continue to spread unless Bjorck recalls his damaging letter. Names mentioned: Dr. (Alfred) Acton, Mr. (Albert) Bjorck, Randolph (W. Childs), Bishop (N. D.) Pendleton, Bishop (George) DeCharms
