Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Eldred Edward Iungerich in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Pendleton writes that while there is no spiritual reason to prohibit serving wine at Church suppers, there is the matter of expense. In addition, he thinks it may be wise not to be too aggressive in taking advantage of the recent repeal of the 18th amendment. Pendletons suspects that the customs regarding alcohol in the General Church will slowly revert to their old ways once the finances increase. Regarding the betrothal ceremony, Pendleton writes, “As Alfred Stroh would say, ‘re betrothals,’ what is the point in betrothing two, one of whom is not of the New Church.” Names mentioned: Alfred Stroh
