Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Eldred Edward Iungerich in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Pendleton acknowledges Iungerich’s last letter and thanks him for agreeing to take in Miss (Angella) Bergstrom next year so that she may teach at the Pittsburgh School. Pendleton was glad to hear that Iungerich’s son, Stevan, has been improving after the removal of his infected tonsils. Pendleton hopes Stevan will attend the Academy in Bryn Athyn next year. As a result of the Depression, the Academy scholarship funds have been reduced by more than half. However, Alvin Nelson has informed Pendleton that he believes the Sons of the Academy organization will be able to contribute the same amount as last year to this fund, possibly even more. Pendleton inquires whether Iungerich has received the latest issue of “Hemelsche Leer”; Pendleton finds it continues to “wind around the same idea.” Willard (Pendleton) recently preached his first sermon in Bryn Athyn and is preparing to spend the summer in Pittsburgh with Iungerich. Names mentioned: Miss (Angella) Bergstrom, Stevan (Iungerich), Alvin Nelson, Willard (Pendleton)
