Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Eldred Edward Iungerich in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. Pendleton encloses a check to cover Iungerich’s traveling expenses. Pendleton reports that he spent the weekend at Toms River with Otho (W. Heilman), Leonard (E. Gyllenhaal?), and Randolph (W. Childs?). Hugo (Odhner) is doing as well as could be expected, although he apparently has typhoid symptoms. He is under the care of Dr. Olds and two nurses, and they are doing everything that can be done, except for administering medicine that might be considered a “vital element.” Of medical treatment, Pendleton writes, “I lean heavily on our doctrine concerning the activity of Providence in the process of healing.” Pendleton would like to be informed when Iungerich has determined a time for the laying of the cornerstone of the new church building in Pittsburgh. Names mentioned: Otho (W. Heilman), Leonard (E. Gyllenhaal?), Randolph (W. Childs?), Hugo (Odhner), Dr. (Charles Louis) Olds
