Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Eldred Edward Iungerich, 1914-08-19
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Eldred Edward Iungerich in London, England. Iungerich’s letter of August 2nd was forwarded to Pittsburgh where Pendleton was on a 10 day trip to visit his wife (Beatrice) in the hospital. Pendleton plans to meet with Iungerich’s wife (Elizabeth) for the purpose of hearing news of Iungerich and for speaking with Mr. and Mrs. Harris, who are interested in the Church. Pendleton discusses the “revolutionary” paper Iungerich wrote for the Assembly; Pendleton did not find Iungerich’s arguments convincing, but he believes it is worthy of further study and should receive sympathetic consideration by all. Pendleton agrees with Iungerich’s views on the solution to the Church’s needs in Lausanne, France, but he supposes that everything must now wait until after the war. Pendleton gave the latest news from India in his letter to Mr. Pitcairn. Fred Waelchli has since reported that his trip to India has been successful beyond all expectations. Names mentioned: Mrs. (Elizabeth Simons) Iungerich, Mr. Harris, Mrs. Harris, Mr. (Ernst) Deltenre, (Emmanuel) Swedenborg, Mr. (John?) Pitcairn, Fred Waelchli
