Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fernand Hussenet in Saint Cloud, Seine et Oise, France. One typed and one handwritten French translation attached. Translated by Mrs. Eldred Iungerich. Pendleton has received Hussenet’s letter of Dec. 12th. Pendleton is concerned that Hussenet does not mention receipt of his (Pendleton’s) letter of Nov. 12th in which Pendleton wished Hussenet to make clear to Convention’s new Society in Paris, La Nouvelle Jerusalem, that the General Church does not wish to exclude any body of the New Church from operating in any locality. Pendleton is concerned that Convention may have interpreted Hussenet’s recent communication to them as hostile, and he is anxious that this impression be corrected. Pendleton regrets that he never met Madame (Louise) Humann, and he writes that her death “removes one who had considerable influence upon the affairs of the New Church in France during the past generation.” The February ministers’ meetings are approaching in Bryn Athyn, and Pendleton wishes it were possible for Hussenet to attend.
