Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fernand Hussenet in Saint Cloud, Paris, France. Handwritten French translation attached. Translated by "E.E.I." (Eldred Iungerich?). Pendleton has received Hussenet’s letter of Nov. 2nd. Pendleton congratulates Hussenet on the marriage of his daughter Myrrah to Mr. Daly, who was baptized into the New Church prior to the wedding. Pendleton was also pleased to hear of the marriage of Mr. Boyesen and the baptism of his fiancée. Pendleton sees baptism as an “ultimate sign” of all that the New Church is and stands for. Pendleton is interested that Rev. Gustave Regamey has begun holding worship services in Paris in conjunction with Mme. (Louise) Humann; Pendleton sees this as a hostile move on the part of Convention and Conference. Pendleton advises Hussenet to ignore Regamey and focus on meeting the spiritual needs of his own people so as to rally them to the cause of the General Church. Pendleton writes that he will do everything he can to aid Hussenet in finding a suitable church hall for his congregation to worship in. Names mentioned: Myrrah (Hussenet Daly), Mr. Daly, Mr. Boyesen, Rev. Gustave Regamey, Mme. (Louise) Humann
