Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fernand Hussenet in Saint Cloud, France. The General Church of the New Jerusalem letterhead. Handwritten French copy and typed French copy attached. Pendleton has received Hussenet’s letters of Dec. 9th, Dec. 31st, and Feb. 14th. Pendleton recommends that Hussenet discuss with M. de Chazal the situation in Lausanne between M. Fercken and M. Regamey. Pendleton explains that M. Fercken studied for one year in Bryn Athyn and was received as a minister of the General Church. He was sent to Switzerland, funded by an allowance privately provided by Mr. John Pitcairn. Fercken’s efforts in Lausanne failed when most of his people joined with M. Regamey to form an independent establishment. Pendleton does not know M. Regamey but hopes it may be possible for the General Church to work with him in the future. In the meantime, they do not wish to interfere with Lausanne, so they have directed Fercken to focus his efforts on Geneva instead. Pendleton is not concerned about Convention taking over the Lausanne Society because if the Society can be influenced by the ideas of Convention, it would not be a good spiritual fit for the General Church anyway. Names mentioned: Mr. John Pitcairn, Rev. Gustave Regamey, M. Pierre de Chazal, Rev. Gaston J. Fercken
