Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fernand Hussenet, 1915-06-15
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fernand Hussenet in St. Cloud, France. Pendleton has received Hussenet’s letter of January 5th and report of April 26th. Pendleton is happy to hear that the French Society maintained regular worship services despite the War. Pendleton acknowledges that it must have been a great loss for the group to send their young men to front, yet he knows they must serve the “glorious cause” of their country. Pendleton was shocked to learn that Hussenet’s son, Elie, was wounded at Charleroi; He hears Elie has recovered but is held prisoner in Germany. Pendleton hopes the War will end soon, followed by a long peace in which the Church may flourish. Pendleton wishes it were possible for Hussenet to be in Bryn Athyn for the upcoming ministers’ meetings. Pendleton informs Hussenet that the Bishop (W.F. Pendleton) is currently away on vacation, taking a much needed rest.
