Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Henry Heinrichs, 1924-10-27
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Henry Heinrichs in Denver, CO, USA. Pendleton received Heinrichs’ letter of Oct. 7th while in Chicago for the Assembly; Unfortunately, it was too late to make plans to visit the Denver Society. Pendleton was sorry to learn from Heinrichs’ letter of the “state of personal criticism” in the Denver Society. Pendleton writes that this state affects every society to a greater or lesser degree. He advises “a constant exercise of patience and tact, and on the part of the Pastor a constant stimulation of spiritual interests.” Pendleton hopes Heinrichs will be able to attend the February ministers’ meetings in Bryn Athyn this year as he wants to ordain Heinrichs into the second degree of the priesthood. As the Denver society is small and the transportation costs high, Pendleton believes the Church would agree to help offset Heinrichs’ traveling expenses. Pendleton read Heinrichs’ report of his summer missionary work aloud to the Consistory, and they feel this work in the Northwest should be continued.
