Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Gyllenhaal in Toronto, Canada. Pendleton writes that the Academy has never liked the term “Swedenborgian”; He suggests that it would be appropriated to put “The New Church founded on the Writings of Emanuel Swedenborg” on a sign board instead. Pendleton reports that no Consistory meeting has been scheduled yet because people are tired of attending meetings. Pendleton was happy to hear that Gyllenhaal’s wife, Agnes, and daughter, Zoe, are planning a trip to Durban, SA. Pendleton reports that they have been receiving a “continual supply” of papers from Mr. Pfeiffer, advocating for his new doctrinal ideas about the internal sense of the Writings; Pendleton writes that no one in Bryn Athyn agrees with Pfeiffer except for Theodore (Pitcairn). Names mentioned: Agnes (Pemberton Gyllenhaal), Zoe (Gyllenhaal Simmons), (Ernst) Pfeiffer, Theodore (Pitcairn)
