Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Gyllenhaal, 1926-12-14
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Gyllenhaal in Colchester, England. Pendleton has been confidentially corresponding with ex-Conference minister Rev. G. A. Sexton of the Island of Jersey for more than a year. Because of his doctrinal view that the Writings of Swedenborg are a “Divine Message,” the Conference Church has cut off his stipend. Although he and his congregation have managed to retain their church building, Sexton has been reaching out to the General Church for support and financial aid. Pendleton has written that the General Church cannot send money at this time, but he recommends that Sexton meet with either Gyllenhaal or Tilson. Pendleton hopes that Tilson and Gyllenhaal can help him (Pendleton) gain more accurate knowledge of the situation. Names mentioned: Rev. G. A. Sexton, Mr. (R.J.) Tilson
