Identifier: RG.004.01

Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Gyllenhaal in Durban, Natal, South Africa. Pendleton has received Gyllenhaal’s report of June 2nd and letter of June 20th. Pendleton has received Gyllenhaal’s report of June 2nd from Australia and letter of June 20th from Bombay, India. He thinks one of Gyllenhaal’s letters may have been lost in the mail, and he asks Gyllenhaal to rewrite the letter if this is the case. Pendleton is very eager to hear more about Gyllenhaal’s experiences in Bombay as well as the results of his talk with Mr. Bhatt. Pendleton writes that Mr. (Eldred) Iungerich had laid the foundations for a permanent New Church center in Lausanne, Switzerland prior to the European War, but now it seems they will probably have to start over after the War. Pendleton reports that Miss Hogan, Miss Sophie Fawk, Mr. Theodore Pitcairn, Mr. (Eldred) Iungerich, Mr. (William?) Whitehead, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rose, Winfred Hyatt with his mother and sister, and the two Miss Doerings are stuck in London and Constance (Pendleton) is stuck in Paris as a result of the War. In Bryn Athyn, things are going as usual, except that they may have to start school short-staffed as several teachers are stranded in Europe. Names mentioned: Freda (Pendleton), Mr. Bhatt, (Eldred) Iungerich, Miss Hogan, Miss Sophie Fawk, Mr. Theodore Pitcairn, Mr. (Eldred) Iungerich, Mr. (William?) Whitehead, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rose, Winfred Hyatt, and the two Miss Doerings, Constance (Pendleton, Mr. (Fred) Waelchli
