Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton's secretary to Rev. Willis L. Gladish. Unsigned, mostly likely written by Viola W. Rennels. Gladish’s letter of Oct. 4th arrived just after the Bishop left for his trip to Pittsburgh. Pendleton’s secretary reports that she has no record of any General Church members in St. Louis beside Mr. Wilson. Mr. Caldwell says the Convention minister in St. Louis, Mr. Cook, is “quite sound.” Pendleton’s secretary suggests that Miss Ellen Sherman, a retired theological school teacher now living with her niece, might enjoy a visit from Gladish, though she does not know if they are situated for entertaining as they are quite poor. She remembers that Miss Sherman has five nephews who fought in the war, two of which are members of the General Church, Alvin and Niel. Names mentioned: Mr. Wilson, Mr. (Will) Caldwell, Mr. Cook, Mr. Homer Waelchli, Miss Ellen Sherman, Miss Jean Sherman, Alvin (Sherman?), Niel (Sherman?)
