Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gaston J. Fercken, 1917-06-26
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gaston J. Fercken. Copy of a letter originally addressed from Pendleton to M.H. Horler, Mme. A. Nicolet Paris, M.F. Gaulis, Raymonde Galland, J. Mayer, Mme. Regamey, Mme. le Duc, M. Maurice de Chazal, M. Pierre de Chazal, J. Nicolet, Mesdames G. Ruillard, E. de Chazal, E. Rouillard, E.M. de St Pern. Pendleton is regrets that Fercken’s mission in Lausanne has failed to accomplish all that was hoped for, but he finds it difficult to discern the causes of this failure. He writes, “I have before me your representation of these causes and also his (Fercken’s), and there is much discrepancy between them.” Pendleton is happy that this group has interest in the doctrines, however that General Church cannot support religious bodies that are not a part of its organization. The General Church has no alternative pastor besides Fercken to send to Lausanne. Pendleton suggest that with additional study, perhaps M. Regamey may become this group’s spiritual leader. Pendleton sends best wishes for the prosperity of their spiritual undertaking.
