Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gaston J. Fercken , 1916-09-11
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gaston J. Fercken in Lausanne, Switzerland. Pendleton has received Fercken’s letters of July 14th and 17th with $2 enclosed from Mme. de Chazal for a subscription to the Life and $3 from Fercken’s society for the revised edition of the Liturgy. Pendleton has read with concern what Fercken writes about the engagement of Miss Hilda Collins and Mr. Nusbaum. Pendleton reports that the automobile missionary trip of Theodore Pitcairn and Karl Alden has been successful, especially in Allentown and Scranton. In Bryn Athyn, the date of the schools opening has been postponed to Oct. 2nd to meet the requirements of the State Board of Health; Pendleton reports that an outbreak of Infantile Paralysis in the Eastern US has caused many deaths, though they are fortunate not to have had any cases in Bryn Athyn.
