Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gaston J. Fercken , 1914-09-08
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. G.J. Fercken in Nantua, France. Pendleton has received Fercken’s letters of Aug. 12th and 21st. Pendleton sends sympathy to Fercken and all who are suffering from the war in Europe. Pendleton believes that “deep seated” evils are the true underlying cause of the war, and hopes that when the war is over, they may look for growth and the spiritual advancement of the New Church. Pendleton understands that Fercken’s family does not wish Fercken to sail for America while there is danger of an invading army, although Pendleton thinks the high seas are comparatively safe. Pendleton reports that Mr. (Eldred) Iungerich and his party are at sea now and expect to land in the coming week.
