Pendleton has received Doering’s letter of April 4th, and while honored by the Academy Board’s proposal, he is unable to accept the position they are offering. The main reason for this is that the salary offered by the Board is less than his present income, and Pendleton and his wife already must be very financially conscious to get by. Pendleton expresses his appreciation to the Board for their offer.
