Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Charles E. Doering, 1907-11-17
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Charles E. Doering. Pendleton discusses his change in perception as to the quality and character of Miss (Lilian) Beekman’s work. He had been doubtful about her work because of a sense that she was “sensualizing” spiritual doctrine, but over the summer he had time to read some 12 or 14 of her lectures and was surprised. The turning point for him was her doctrine about “infilling spheres” which gave him a new perception of things. He writes, “I understand much that was formerly very obscure. A grave fear has passed from me I rejoice to say, and I take off my hat to Miss Beekman.”
