Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Ernst Deltenre, 1924-04-30
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Ernst Deltenre in Brussels, Belgium. Pendleton has received Deltenre’s letter of April 12th. He wishes Deltenre to make clear in “La Nouvelle Jerusalem” that the General Church has a policy of fairness and non-interference towards other bodies of the New Church. Pendleton would prefer this to be done without hurting the feelings of Mr. Hussenet if possible. Pendleton reports that three representatives of the Convention Church, including the president, Mr. Worcester, recently came to visit him in Bryn Athyn in order to establish missionary boundaries between the two Churches; Pendleton refused to set up geographical boundaries, arguing that both Churches should be left in freedom. Pendleton hopes Deltenre has not been upset by any rumors that the Church is dissatisfied with Deltenre’s work in Brussels; While they do wish he had been able to establish a society there, Pendleton is very pleased with the publishing work he is doing with “La Nouvelle Jerusalem”. Pendleton discusses details of his upcoming visit to Brussels. Names mentioned: Mr. Hussenet, Mr. Worcester, Mrs. (Beatrice) Pendleton, Mrs. Deltenre, Theodore Pitcairn
