Pendleton has received a discouraging letter from Curtis about the society in New York. Pendleton hopes they will still be able to hold occasional church services, in which case this would provide some opportunity for Philip (Odhner?). Regardless, Pendleton thinks it will be good for Philip to take Vincent’s (Odhner?) place in Philadelphia, and Pendleton also hopes to have Philip teach in the Academy. Hugo (Odhner) expressed his intention to go to the New England coast for two weeks, and Pendleton hopes he will do so.
