Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Emil R. Cronlund , 1916-12-15
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Emil R. Cronlund in Toronto, Canada. Pendleton acknowledges Cronlund’s letter of November 20th with enclosed membership application for Mr. Dawson. Although Mr. Dawson does not acknowledge the Writings as the Word of God, Pendleton will still accept his application because Dawson does regard them as a Divine Revelation. As a rule, the Church will accept any baptized adult who has formally applied. Although the Church has the right to reject applications, Pendleton believes this should only be done “for some very special reason, such as our firm conviction that by acceptance we would be introducing into the body an element that would be disturbing to its well-being.”
