Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. William B. Caldwell in Glenview, IL, USA. Pendleton acknowledges Caldwell’s letter of March 28th in which he agrees take up a position in Bryn Athyn. Pendleton does not think George DeCharms will leave Bryn Athyn for Glenview to accept the call of the Immanuel Church, so he advises that the Council also decide on a second choice. Pendleton would like to have Caldwell in Bryn Athyn as soon as possible, but Caldwell’s move depends on when the Immanuel Church finds a successor for him. Pendleton suggests several ministers whom the Council might call: Mr. Gladish, Karl Alden, Theodore Pitcairn, Gilbert Smith, Mr. Synnestvedt, Hugo Odhner, Cronlund, and David. Pendleton formally accepts Caldwell’s resignation as pastor of the Immanuel Church and authorizes him to change to date of resignation if necessary.
