Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gerrit Barger, 1915-03-31
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gerrit Barger in the Hague, Holland. The Bishop (W.F. Pendleton) and the Consistory have enjoyed Barger’s recent letters and are very interested in his work. Pendleton wishes to thank Barger’s daughter, Miss Mary, for her report of responses to Barger’s Rotterdam lectures; Pendleton considers it remarkable that a lecture like that could be given in a Scottish Church of the Covenanters. Barger’s son, Gerrit, was able to translate Barger’s Hague lecture; Pendleton is interested to hear more about the Chinese gentleman who is reading Divine Love and Wisdom with them. In Bryn Athyn, the Cathedral is slowly being built and sightseers are starting to visit on Sundays when the weather is good. Mr. Pitcairn will be back soon from his trip around South America. The Bishop is recovering his health and has gone to the seashore for rest.
