Scope and Contents

Typed letter from Rev. Gustaf Baeckström to N.D. Pendleton in Bryn Athyn, PA, USA. Baeckstrom sends the record of baptism and application for Church membership for Mr. Tor Stenström, a convert from the Lutheran State Church. Baeckstrom also sends a marriage record for one of Erik Sandstrom’s sisters; Her husband is not a church member yet but is receptive to the doctrines. Baeckstrom is leaving for a missionary trip to northern Sweden where he will give lectures and try to establish reading circles. They have established a reading circle at Karlskrona consisting of three men (including Karl Henrik Sigstedt and Mr. Fosberg) and four or five interested ladies. The group at Jönköping has increased in size so much that they are having trouble finding a home big enough to hold them. Jönköping would like to have Erik Sandstrom as their minister, but it is doubtful they could support him yet. Sandstrom has been very useful in Stockholm, keeping up the Church work while Baeckstrom is away. He is “an Academy man altogether” and everyone likes him very much.
