Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström, 1933-09-28
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton acknowledges Baeckstrom’s previous letter with enclosed applications for General Church membership and records of baptism; Jönköping appears to be “a veritable treasure-trove” for the Church. Bishop Tilson has told Pendleton that Baeckstrom’s visit to the British Assembly was enjoyable. Mr. (Albert) Bjork read a paper in defense of “The Hague doctrines” at the Assembly, and he has also written a criticism of Pendleton’s paper from the Ministers’ Meetings. Pendleton can understand, with difficulty, Bjork’s “allurement” the Hague position, but he believes Bjork has been an “intellectual transient” since childhood. Pendleton has just returned from the Pittsburg Assembly, and next week will set out for Toronto and Kitchener.
