Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström, 1932-04-23
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton has read with pleasure Baeckstrom’s account of his successful missionary trips. Pendleton notes what Baeckstrom has said about Karl Henrik Sigstedt. Pendleton has spoken to the Board of Directors, but due to financial constraints, they cannot afford to pay for Sigstedt to come to Bryn Athyn to study. However, they could offer him the customary Working Scholarship with remission of the general tuition. Pendleton suggests that if Sigstedt is able to accept this offer, he should try to enter America under the allowed quota from Sweden. If this is not possible, the Academy would have to make certain guarantees to the American Government which it cannot undertake at this time. Pendleton hopes Sigstedt will be able to come and that they will have him in the school next year.
