Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton acknowledges Baeckstrom’s letter of Oct. 18th with account of Baeckstrom’s missionary trip to Dalekarlia and southern Sweden. Pendleton thinks the results of this trip demonstrate that winter is the best time for missionary work; Everyone is restless in and looking for change in the summer. Pendleton and his wife (Beatrice) are very concerned over the news about Senta (Centervall), and they hope she is improving. Hans Giobel has given up the study for the ministry and has left Bryn Athyn for England. Pendleton met Erik Sandstrom and thinks he is a stable young man which is what the ministry needs. Pendleton presumes they will hear later from Miss Smart about her coming to Bryn Athyn. Pendleton advises Baeckstrom that if there is larger attendance at doctrinal classes when held in the church hall, then this is what he should do. At the same time, Pendleton feels that “there is a warmth about a home entertainment which is likely to be lost in a hall.” The Pendletons are preparing to go to Toronto Assembly and afterwards to Kitchener.
