Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton acknowledges Baeckstrom’s last letter. Baeckstrom’s comments on Hans Giobel helped Pendleton and Dr. Acton decide to send money for Giobel to travel to Bryn Athyn to study for the ministry this year. They had originally thought Giobel might come the next year with Erik Sandstrom, but now feel that it will be better to have Giobel in the Church sphere in Bryn Athyn. Pendleton finds the report of Baeckstrom’s missionary efforts interesting. Although attendance was not as high in Oslo, Pendleton still believes Baeckstrom is laying the foundation for a broad and permanent Church in Scandinavia. Pendleton is also optimistic that a permanent Church is being established in Africa: At the “native” Assembly in Alpha, there were 14 ordinations into the first and second degrees of the priesthood. In Bryn Athyn, they are preparing for the June Assembly; Construction of a new building for the Assembly is underway. Pendleton has received Baeckstrom’s book “Efter Doden” and has added it to his library.
