Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström , 1928-04-10
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton acknowledges Baeckstrom’s letter of March 22nd with enclosed records and applications for Church membership. Pendleton is glad that Baeckstrom is pleased with Pendleton’s decision to ordain George de Charms into the third degree; Bishop De Charms shows great promise for the future. Baeckstrom’s fourth missionary trip to Oslo seems to be successful, at least in terms of public interest and book sales. Pendleton looks forward to the establishment of a permanent circle at Oslo, and later a full Society. Pendleton believes they must have strong New Church centers, in the same way that an army has supply bases. Pendleton has spoken to Mr. Alvin Nelson about selling Swedish New Church books from Glenview, and the response was favorable. Mr. Holm, one of Mr. Headsten’s Chicago converts, is already “doing a good work for that cause.” The London Assembly is approaching, and Pendleton hopes to see Baeckstrom and members of Baeckstrom’s society there.
