Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton has received Baeckstrom’s letter about his recent successful trip to Oslo and other parts of Norway. The people in Bryn Athyn wish Baeckstrom success and good health, as it takes much strength to act as both Pastor and missionary over such a large area. Pendleton has also received Baeckstrom’s letter accepting the Church’s offer of financial aid for traveling expenses for the 1928 London Assembly. During the Assembly, Pendleton will ordain Rev. R.J. Tilson into the third degree. This ordination will be “within the priesthood” and will not involve a set diocese at that time. Pendleton also hopes that Mr. Leonardos and Mr. Lima of the Rio de Janeiro Society will attend as well, so they can be officially ordained by the laying on of hands ceremony. Because they live so far away, Pendleton has previously authorized them to exercise the powers of the first two degree of the priesthood, but they really ought to be properly ordained. Pendleton also plans to ordain Elmo Acton into the second degree at the Assembly.
