Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström, 1923-09-20
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton acknowledges Baeckstrom’s letters of August 4th and Sept. 3rd with enclosures; He welcomes Miss Pamp into the General Church. Pendleton informs Baeckstrom that Mr. and Mrs. George de Charms and Harold and Clara Pitcairn have had to cancel the Sweden leg of their trip to Europe. Pendleton is sorry to hear that Baeckstrom was unable to attend the British Assembly due to illness. Pendleton is told the British Assembly was a success and was effective in bringing opposing parties together. Pendleton was similarly happy with the results of the Glenview General Assembly. Pendleton remarks on the state of disorder in the old Society, and he is thankful that Baeckstrom and the General Church are able to fill the void left by the old Society. In Bryn Athyn, the Academy has opened again, this time with fewer students than in the past. Some of the teachers are happy that there are not as many students, but Pendleton wishes there were more girls because they are currently significantly outnumbered by the boys.
