Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström, 1920-10-28
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton has just returned from his Fall trip to Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Glenview. The Executive Committee met while Pendleton was away and were able to increase the Church’s financial contribution to Baeckstrom’s support. Pendleton hopes the amount given will be enough to carry out the policy they have agreed upon. Pendleton reminds Baeckstrom that they are not opposed to missionary work but building up the center in Stockholm should be the priority. Pendleton is amazed to hear the Mr. Svensson has turned against them; Svensson was treated well in Bryn Athyn and he was authorized by Pendleton as a candidate of the ministry to teach the doctrine. In Bryn Athyn, they are looking forward to celebrating Charter Day on Nov. 3rd, expecting many former students to attend. Pendleton hears that the elder Mrs. Stroh has passed away in California and Alfred Stroh has been committed to an insane asylum in Sweden. Money is being raised for Mrs. Alfred Stroh by General Church members and Mr. McGeorge of Convention. When Mr. Acton arrives in Sweden, Pendleton would like him to visit Mrs. Stroh and give a report on the situation.
