Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström, 1917-07-18
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton acknowledges Baeckstrom's letter of May 24th. Pendleton is interested in Baeckstrom's visit to Gothenburg; Pendleton does not feel Gothenburg could support itself as an independent organization of the Church yet, so for now he thinks it is best to have the people there join with the Circle in Stockholm. Miss (Senta) Centervall's boat was wrecked off the coast of Newfoundland as she was sailing to Norway, but all the passengers were saved. Pendleton regrets that they could only have Miss Centervall at the Academy for one year, but he thinks she will strengthen the Stockholm Circle. As soon as the war is over, Pendleton will make arrangements to visit Europe. The recents meetings in Bryn Athyn were successful and well attended. Mr. (Alfred) Stroh originally intended to return to Sweden on the same boat as Miss Centervall, but was delayed and will now depart in about a month. The General Church membership applications of Mrs. George E. Lunden, Mrs. Gurli Kuylenstierna, and Mrs. Anna Matthiesen have been received and accepted in Bryn Athyn.
