Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton acknowledges Baeckstrom's letter of December 10th; Pendleton is pleased with the increase in attendence, but surprised that the Stockholm Circle has not had Holy Supper since last January. Pendleton was under the impression that the Church had sent money to have Mr. Bronniche perform Holy Supper four times a year. If Pendleton had not been under this impression, he would have authorized Baeckstrom to perform the ceremony himself. The matter has been taken up with the Extension Committee, and Mr. (W. H.) Alden will send the money shortly. Pendleton will send Baeckstrom authorization to perform the functions of the 2nd degree of the preisthood in case it becomes necessary, but he feels that it would be more orderly if they could wait until Pendleton travels to Europe and Baeckstrom can be ordained by "the laying on of hands". Alfred Stroh has arrived in Bryn Athyn and they are making arrangements to continue phototyping Swedenborg's manuscripts. Everyone is enjoying having Miss (Senta) Centervall in the Academy. Interesting news of Mr. Gyllenhaal's work with the Basuto people in South Africa has reached Bryn Ahtyn and will be published in the New Church Life. Pendleton sends regards to Miss Nordenskiold and Miss Liden.
