Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Gustaf Baeckström in Stockholm, Sweden. Pendleton acknowledges Baeckstrom's letter of Jan. 20th. The Academy will grant a scholarship to Miss Centerwall; The things Baeckstrom and Miss Nordenskiold have said about her are intriguing, and Pendleton hopes she will be able to come to Bryn Athyn next fall. A General Assembly will be held in Bryn Athyn in June when a new Bishop will be chosen. Blank report forms will be sent to Baeckstrom which he should fill out and return to the office of the Bishop. Pendleton assures Baeckstrom that he did the right thing in the matter of Holy Supper; "From a New Church stand-point, the administering of either Baptism or the Holy Supper to the dying is not of great importance." Pendleton writes that the false idea that salvation depends upon these ceremonies has come from the Catholic Church, but it is important that they are only administered by someone who is properly authorized.
