Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Karl R. Alden, 1923-07-06
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Karl R. Alden in Toronto, Canada. General Church letterhead. Copy attached. Pendleton suggests that Alden recruit laymen from his society to help with the work, as has often been done in the Chuch in cases of necessity. Pendleton explains why he does not want first year theological student Alan (Gill?) to participate in public worship; "My mind is clear as to the injurious effect of advancing the states of our theological students too fast. The Writings indicate that the steps toward the priesthood, and the passing through its several degrees should be carefully guarded and adequately prepared for." Pendleton writes that he finds a little tennis now and then is good for any man. He sends his regards to Ersa (Alden).
