Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Elmo C. Acton, 1929-05-10
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Elmo C. Acton in Durban, Natal, South Africa. This letter is in response to Acton's cablegram, asking if he (Acton) may be authorized to call a South African Assembly dunning Pendleton's visit. Pendleton asks that an Assembly be called, and asks the Acton act as secretary until the Assembly appoints its own. Pendleton recommends either the weekend of Sept. 15th or 22nd for the Assembly, but is leaving all details up to Acton. Pendleton will read a paper and perform any other needed services, such as Holy Supper. He would like to hear from Acton and Mr. (Frederick?) Elphick with reference to the matter of ordaining some native South Africans. In Bryn Athyn, they are delighted to have Miss Champion: "Her interest in New Church education is an inspiration as well as an encouragement." Pendleton will answer Acton's last letter at a later date.
