Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Elmo C. Acton, 1926-05-12
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Elmo C. Acton in Durban, Natal, South Africa. Theodore Pitcairn has accepted the position of second assistant pastor of the Bryn Athyn Church, and therefore will be resigning as pastor of the Durban Society. This was to be exspected as a result of his (Pitcairn's) recent marriage. Acton is now Minister of the Durban Society, "directly under the Bishop, who according to our order, is the Pastor of any Society which for any reason is without a Pastor." Although Acton is not ordained into the second degree, he has previously been authorized to administer the sacraments, and Pendleton now authorizes him to act as the leader of the society until until a new pastor is found. Acton will be ordained into the second degree of the priesthood as soon as possible.
