Letter to J. Waelchly (Waelchli), 1885 April 11

 Item
Identifier: Item 575

Scope and Contents

Original. Written in Philadelphia. Probably misspelling of Waelchli. Speaks of the dissolution of the Society in Allentown, PA. Calls is "characteristic of a certain state now existing in the external New Church." States that Waelchly's inaction was the correct course since "they torn down what they had built-up." He can "take up what has been left in your hands and begin to construct a new house for the Lord Himself to dwell in with you." Advices to "go slowly and do not yield to the idea that you must take steps to bring in other people ... If there be others who can come to The Church, the Lord will send them." Encourages healthy growth from relying on their young people and children. As requested, have prepared a Constitution - but did not yet send it yet because need further "consultation with my Constituary and with you." Explains in detail the make-up of the proposed Councils of the Pastor and or the Laity. People and places mentioned: Allentown, Mr. Wilder (?), Mr Glakemeyer (?), Mr. Kessler (?), Dr Hibbard
