Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli, 1935-01-28
Scope and Contents
Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli. Three copies; two handwritten and one typed. Of the handwritten two, one is a draft in pencil, and one is written in ink on "Log Run Camp, Indian Lake, N.Y." letterhead. The typed version includes a note at the top that the letter was "written by hand by Bishop Pendleton at Indian Lake" and "Typed by Mrs. Rennels after the Bishop's return to Bryn Athyn in September." Pendleton was pleased to receive Waelchli’s letter regarding the situation in Kitchener, and he thanks Waelchli for his service to the Church. Pendleton felt that Waelchli was uniquely qualified to mediate the case in Kitchener and “help them to a right conclusion.” While certain long-standing personal difficulties remain, Pendleton believes he saw “an unexpected reasonableness” from certain quarters. The matter appears to be closed. He writes, “The school will go on under good management, and I trust that by the time the Pitcairn fund is exhausted the present depression will be over, and that then our friends in Kitchner will be able to renew their financial independence.” Alan Gill is in Bryn Athyn for the summer, and Pendleton will show him Waelchli’s letter so that he may be fully informed of the situation in Kitchener. Names mentioned: Pitcairn, Alan Gill, Mrs. (Viola Wolcott) Rennels
