Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli in Wyoming, Ohio, USA. Two copies, one on General Church of the New Jerusalem letterhead. Pendleton feels his recent trip to South Africa was very worthwhile, especially as he was able to ordain fourteen “natives” into the priesthood. Mrs. Pendleton has written an account of their trip that will appear in the Life. Pendleton appreciated Waelchli’s observations on the difficulties faced by both Henry Heinrichs and Henry Boef in his recent report. Both men have appealed to the Church for a raise in salary. Pendleton is interested in the situation regarding Mr. Nutter, and he wonders if Nutter actually has the nerve to leave Convention for the General Church. Pendleton hopes Waelchli will be able to visit Mrs. Florence Crockett on his upcoming southern trip. In Bryn Athyn, the construction of the new Assembly Hall is underway, and they have begun making preliminary arrangements for the Assembly meetings. Pendleton hopes Waelchli will address the Council of Ministers at the upcoming mid-year meetings. Names mentioned: Mrs. (Beatrice Walton Childs) Pendleton, Henry Boef, Henry Heinrichs, Mr. (Edward. H.?) Nutter, Mrs. Florence F. Crockett, Mr. (William) Whitehead, Alena (Hughes Waelchli)
