Letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli, 1928-04-14
Scope and Contents
Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli in Wyoming, Ohio, USA. Pendleton enjoyed Waelchli’s report of March 31st and notes his comments about the difficulty of keeping the children of isolated members in the Church. Pendleton believes this is why the Church must focus on building societies and communities. Waelchli’s trip to Atlantia reminds Pendleton of a visit he made there some 12 or 14 years ago. Pendleton was glad to hear that his “Cousin Jimmy” is still “up and about;” He considers Jimmy a sincere New Churchman. Pendleton hopes Mr. Fritz will weather his financial difficulties. Pendleton notes that Los Angeles offers an interesting opening if the Church can only “swing it.” He ends the letter by updating Waelchli on new assignments within the Church: Homer (Synnestvedt) and Hugo (Odhner) will move to Bryn Athyn, Eldred (Iungerich) to Pittsburgh, and Alan Gill to Kitchener. Toronto has yet to find a new pastor. Names mentioned: Remington family, Childs family, “Cousin Jimmy” (Jimmy Pendleton?), “Uncle Edmond” (Edmond Pendleton?), Sterling, Mr. (Joachim) Fritz, Homer (Synnestvedt), Eldred (Iungerich), Alan Gill, Hugo (Odhner)
