Scope and Contents

Typed letter from N.D. Pendleton to Rev. Fred E. Waelchli in Wyoming, Ohio, USA. Pendleton has received Waelchli’s letter of November 1st along with an enclosed letter from Peter Klippenstein to Waelchli and Waelchli’s reply. Pendleton comments that they should give Peter’s plan some time to “shake down.” He feels that the Church is on the verge of making a number of changes, but one thing depends on another. He agrees with Waelchli that they should attempt to establish a permanent society in Los Angeles and possibly one in Spokane, Washington in the future. In Bryn Athyn, Pendleton’s brother, Bishop Emeritus William Frederic Pendleton, has recently passed away. He writes, “We here, with the whole Church, have been profoundly moved by that event. I can not bring myself to write much about it, but you can imagine that I feel alone. No other word quite expresses it. However, his spiritual presence is now and will in the future be more fully realized.” Names mentioned: Peter Klippenstein
