Contents:
-lonely today; Mr. Childs left for San Francisco & Mr. Ballou is visiting family in Idaho Springs; was both reader & congregation for service this morning
-sad to be separated from loved ones for much of life; but being alone helps one see their own failings & be more worthy of others
-knew John would like Gertrude; was not prepared for way he expressed his feelings, but not too surprised; John is a noble fellow
-sorrows perform their use and then pass away; Lord brings peace in the end; beautiful chapter on peace in Heaven and Hell
-likely to be in Philadelphia sometime in next few months
-will write to Miss Hogan soon
