-misses Gertie very much & wishes she could be there; is very sorry for everything she has gone through
-remembers when they were at the mill (?) and she asked, “When you have tired of me and blame me like the rest for my position, will you return my things? All that I have given you?”
-has never blamed her; hopes she will always be true to her principles
