Letter from Walter C. Childs to unknown recipient, 1878-04-09
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter from Walter C. Childs in Pittsburgh, PA to unknown recipient. Addressed to “My dear Boy.” 1 page, double-sided. “Duquesne Club” letterhead. Handwriting difficult to decipher in places.
Contents:
-thanks for letter; “saints” will have benefit of it next Sunday
-mystery remains unsolved; with Green St. ruled out, suspicion points nowhere in particular
-demijohn, although sunder (?), was full; on suspicion that it contained cologne, Father Vetterling had “saintesses” give him their handkerchiefs at last meeting, onto which he put “Academy perfume”
-Miss Gertrude’s disclaimer arrived; cannot doubt her word- but it will not do
-kind regards to all the family
