Handwritten letter from William M. Carter in Trenton, N.J. to Miss Starkey, possibly Gertrude Starkey Pitcairn. 1 page, double-sided. Decorative initials ("WC"?) pressed into top center of page. Date unclear, possibly Sept. 3rd.

Contents: -Carter & Mrs. Furman will be at Church Sunday morning; please inform Mr. Tafel -Mrs. F. will visit friends; unable to accept Miss Starkey’s invitation -if Carter arrives Saturday night, where will the “saints” be found? -sorry to hear Miss Cara is suffering -Signed: “Old Roman Remains”
