Contents: -family news: Mother gone to Boston, baby is sweet, Wilfred devoted to baby -Mrs. Pulsifer’s upcoming annual party; Fred will drive them if the weather is nice -Gertrude’s new stance regarding works of Swedenborg; does she believe they are on par with the Bible? Hannah disagrees; Swedenborg wrote truth, but works are not doctrine -agitation in Church: only few men, views are narrow & despotic; Mr. Seward & other ministers are opposed -Pendleton asked to resign; people leaving society due to new views; views of Pennsylvania minsters condemn all but a few -more important to live a good life than quarrel over letter of law; time will come when Gertrude will see this matter is a trifling question
